KCCA Fans Gala Attracts Club Legends

KCCA FC continued to reach out to their fans with various engagements both on and off the pitch with a second successful Fans Gala held at Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Sunday.

The second edition was graced by former players and legends of KCCA FC with the likes of Sam Ssimbwa, Paul Ssali, and Charles Baker Masiko being present at the event whereas former Kasasiro boys players and ex-internationals like Hassan Wasswa were part of the fans that participated in various events.

As a norm at the club, the motive was to celebrate club legends and former players through fans activities like football, Netball, sack race, egg on a spoon, musical chair, Races, Tug of war, and mainly the corporate social responsibility with each fan participating in a team of his choice named after a former player.

Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago

The Lord Mayor of Kampala and the Patron of KCCA FC Erias Lukwago appreciated the fans for always turning up behind the team.

Lukwago promised to do the needful and see the completion of the Stadium construction in the next year.

“We can see the momentum generated by fans this year as we are on the right track to make KCCA FC the number one fans club in Uganda,” the Lord Mayor stated.

“The future is bright with the morale the fans have given to the club and the enthusiasm they create it’s always appreciated and the fans Gala is a unity that creates a bond between the club and the fans.

“Our main target is now to complete the construction of this facility in the next year and once we complete that it will be a huge milestone and the sky will be the limit.

“We have already secured some funds which will help us improve the infrastructure, boost our wage bill and also the nitty-gritty which will help us improve on our performances.

“The fans have been pushing us more when they purchase club merchandise.”

The second edition of the Fans Gala had teams named after club legends and former players in the names of John Ross Latigo, Sam Ssimbwa, Paul Ssali, and the KCCA FC life captain Charles Baker Masiko.

The life captain of KCCA FC Charles Baker Masiko applauded the KCCA FC management for always remembering the legends and he urged the current players to stay focused and disciplined so that they can also write a story at the club that will always be remembered.

“I thank the board of the club for organizing such Galas and naming teams before us when we are still alive. It’s always good to appreciate what we did for the club when we can also be able to witness such engagements.”

“I urge the current players at the club and the technical team to always be present at such fan engagements so that they create that bond with the fans who are always behind them when playing.

“Players should always be disciplined at all times and must be focused to write a name which will be remembered in the future.”

Team Latigo

Team Masiko was crowned the overall Champions of the second edition of the KCCA FC fans gala with 74 points beating team Paul Ssali who finished second with 68 points Team Sam Ssimbwa finished third with 55 points with team Latigo came out fourth with 53 points.

Team Masiko walked home with the winner’s trophy and a dummy cheque of 1.8 million Uganda shillings as they dominated in Football and Netball winning both finals.
