Preview: Vipers, BUL Seek To Close Gap Atop
Vipers welcome BUL at Kitende as second meet third in what promises to be a brilliant league clash this Saturday.
Both sides are tied on 24 points, five adrift of leaders KCCA who beat Busoga United 2-1 at Lugogo.
And one thing is for sure, one of the two (or both) will have dropped points after the final whistle at Kitende.
The two are title contenders and on the other hand, this is a repeat of the Uganda Cup final which BUL won last season to take their revenge after that 8-1 mauling in the previous final.
“We have to be ready to play a top, top, top, top game because they will go for us,” Vipers coach Robertinho said.
“They will high press, they will try to play much more football than we allowed them do the last time we met in the Uganda Cup final. So, it will be really interesting, definitely. How I said, maturity is important but not the only thing.”
Vipers come into this one after drawing goalless with Express at Wankulukuku and will be seeking return to winning ways.
BUL on the other hand, drew 1-1 with KCCA in a game they put up a poor show despite picking a positive result at Njeru.
BUL come into this fixture having beaten Arua Hill 1-0 in their last away match, a result that snapped the Club’s five barren results on the road.
“It is not going to be easy but we expect to win as we are going to give all we can to get all the three points,” said BUL coach Alex Isabirye.
“They are a strong team who we believe want to retain their title but we also want to be counted among the strong ones, thus we have to play teams like them and even get points off them.
“The target is to remain in the top positions although Vipers match is going to be really tough.“
Last season at Kitende, Simon Peter Oketch’s 93rd minute equaliser cancelled out Walter Ochora 47th minute own goal off Milton Karisa cross.
