Farouk Daku Ready For First Home Fight In Six Years

Netherlands-based Professional boxer Farouk Malingumu Daku is set to face off with Tanzanian Pius Mpenda in a Boxing bonanza due December 31 2022 at Aponye Mall rooftop.

This will be Daku’s first fight in the country since 2016 when he beat Hungarian Jozsef Kormany at Nakivubo.

“I am excited that I will be fighting at home and can’t wait to step in the right in front of a cheerful crowd,” Daku said.

“It has always been difficult for me to lose a home fight and I want to continue with the trend in my next fight. I am in right shape and I have been training back in Netherlands.

“I want to promise my fans a good fight, I have put in a good shift and I expect nothing but a win on the night.”

Farouk, a young brother to Anderman Daku, has inspired a couple of Ugandan boxers to move to Netherlands including Fazil Juma and Willy Kyakonye.

He has won many titles under his belt and he’s a three-time East and Central African champion.

Daku has fought at almost all corners of the World including United States, France, Montenegro among others.

Born in 1985 in Walukuba Jinja, Daku began his boxing career back in 1997 at SCOULS before turning pro in 2005.

He has had some career highs including a win over Tanzanian Siad Mbelwa in Nairobi for the World Boxing Union fight, he best Ibrahim Tamba and Tanzanian Oswald Maneno who had beaten Godfrey Nyakana.
