•Maroons 1-1 Express
Express and Maroons settled for a draw despite late goals in a league game played at Luzira Prisons grounds.
With both goals coming at the death, Substitute Ivan Mayanja thought he had won it for Express when he headed in just at the 90th minute.
But Fred Amaku equalized with a cool finish off the rebound in the last minute of the four added, to win a point for Prison Warders.
The result means that Express remain winless in six straight games, leaving them in 9th position with 16 points while Maroons remain 10th with 15 points.
There was little to talk about in opening half in terms of chances created following the flow of the ball which was downplayed by soggy playing field of Luzira.
However, the hosts looked more dominant, having four attempts on target from Fred Amaku and Sula Mpanga compared to visitors who had none in opening exchanges.
The Visitors’ half chances landed to Hassan Mubiru and Hussein Ssenoga who both missfired their shots.
Mubiru had the best chance of the game to put Express ahead but his finish was blocked by Edward Kabona.
In the 90th minute, Mayanja broke the deadlock with a long header off the rebound but Simon Tamale would have done better in punching away Mubiru’s cross.
In what was the last kick of the game, Amaku tapped in the rebound after Samson Kigozi’s initial effort was denied by goalkeeper Abdul Kimera.
Maroons will end the first round with a visit at Njeru to play BUL while Express will host Blacks Power .
