Uganda’s representatives at the 2022/23 CAF Champions League season, Vipers, have learnt her group opponents at the draw held on Monday at CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
Vipers have been pitted in Group C alongside Raja Casablanca of Morocco, Horoya of Guinea and neighbours Simba SC of Tanzania.
Raja will pose the biggest threat having won the competition three times but given that two teams advance to the knockout, Vipers will fancy their chances.
The Venoms will be competing in CAF Champions League group stage for the first time in the Club’s history.
They beat TP Mazembe 4-2 in shootouts to confirm their place in the groups, having eliminated Olympic Real De Bangui in the first round of the qualifiers.
The groups will begin on 10 February 2023 and end on 1 April 2023 – Teams will face off on a home and away round robin basis. The winners and runners-up of each group will advance to the Quarterfinals of the knockout stage.
Wydad are the defending champions after beating Al Ahly in the 2022 final.
