Preview: KCCA Target Maximum Points Against Struggling Express

KCCA FC are eager to fight for maximum points as they welcome Express FC in the Kampala Derby at Omondi Stadium with an eye set to reclaim top spot on the league table.

KCCA FC come into the Express tie sitting in third position with 23 points below Vipers and BUL FC with just a point above the Lugogo based side who have played a game less.

The Morley Byekwaso coached side have had some outstanding performance previously and head into their 10th game in the league on a six games unbeaten run with only URA managing to pick a point as they played out to a 1-1 draw and are yet to lose a game at home this season.

They host struggling Express FC who have lost three consecutive games despite starting off the league on a better run.

The Kasasiro boys come into this game with a vital 2-0 away win against Onduparaka in their last league game.

KCCA FC head coach Morley Byekwaso remains aware of the damages Express FC can cause as they head into the derby game which he anticipates to carry a huge magnitude.

“It is a derby and such games are of a huge magnitude. We know what is at stake and we want to win,” KCCA FC Coach Morley Byekwaso said.

“If we focus on playing well, we know the results will come. We need to focus on our principles and if we get that right on the day then we shall win.”

Express FC recently lost 1-0 against Arua Hill, 3-2 away against Wakiso Giants and 2-0 at home against Bright Stars which has seen them drop to ninth position with 14 points, trailing log leaders Vipers by nine points.

Coach James Odoch has admitted that defensive errors have been the major reasons to why they have gone a head to drop points in the past three games where they have conceded six goals and only managed to score two.

“I must admit that we are not in a good situation having lost our last consecutive three games, it is indeed a poor run for such a big club,” Odoch said.

“In training this week, we have tried so much to rectify the mistakes we have been doing especially in defense.”

Odoch remains positive that his side will bounce back to winning ways against KCCA despite playing away from home where they have struggled with consistency as they have only managed to pick two wins on the road and losing two with just a single draw.

“The players have been responding well to the tactics and I am hopeful we shall win because losing a fourth straight game will not be good for us. I know how good a team KCCA is with brilliant players and equally a fantastic coach Morley Byekwaso but we shall be looking for maximum points.”

Stats

KCCA FC are in a better position to fight for maximum points as they last lost a game against Express FC in the league in 2018/2019 season at Wankulukuku stadium.
