Preview: Improved Blacks Power Target SC Villa Scalp
Blacks Power will be fancying their chances when they face off with SC Villa in a league game at Akii-bua stadium in Lira.
The hosts are unbeaten in their last three games, with their two wins so far this season coming during this spell.
They beat Maroons and UPDF before picking a crucial point away to URA in their last fixture.
Such has been the incredible work put up by new coach Hussein Mbalangu who stepped in after the club parted ways with Peter Onen.
The job is not even halfway done as Blacks Power, who’s main target this season is to survive relegation, sit 12th with just nine points.
They will feel this is the right time to beat SC Villa who have lost thrice in their last five games.
However, the Jogoos are now familiar with the Akii-bua Stadium where they have hosted their last two games after the FUFA ban.
They come into this one on the back of a hard fought 1-0 win over Maroons and they will be seeking to build on this victory to climb into the higher echelons of the log.
Jackson Magera’s side sit 6th on the table with 17 points having won six games.
Club captain Gift Fred said ahead of the game: “Following our last game against Maroons, the team is a high morale as we look forward to winning our second game in a row. The players are ready to stage that fighting spirit for maximum points against Blacks Power.”
“We lost Ssemakula to a red card which may have caused havoc in our defence line but the team is well versed with a couple of players to fill that void as we are all determined to fight for a better result against.”
It remains to be seen who will partner Gift Fred at the heart of defence after Ssemakula’s red card, but midfielder Ivan Sserubiri might be a better option having played there before when the season started before Ssemakula returned.
