Moses Waiswa Reveals Major Reason for Returning Home

KCCA FC midfielder Moses Waiswa has revealed the major reasons that pushed him to return back to Uganda.

Waiswa returned home this year in June, signing a two years deal at KCCA FC after ending his two year spell at South African side Super Sport United.

While appearing at KCCA FC TV show that airs out every Sunday on NBS sport channel, Waiswa said that home was the best option for him since he lacked enough game time in South Africa.

“I wanted to come back home because I felt I didn’t have enough game time. I needed to reset myself and home was the best option, Waiswa told KCCA FC media.

He added “Before even my contract ended, I had already decided that I will go back home. And if you want to be a top player, you must take the toughest decisions”

Waiswa had joined the South African side in 2019 from Uganda premier League side Vipers.

He then made his debut on January 24, 2020, after recovering from an injury suffered in June 2019 while the Cranes were preparing for the AFCON 2019.

But since then, things didn’t turn out well for him as he lacked enough game time and it was believed that he only made 15 appearances for the club.

“I was depressed. If you are not playing week in and out and they only call you when the team is struggling and you are expected to perform at your highest level, it can’t work out , he added.

When asked about the challenges he faced in South Africa, Waiswa said

“The coach had his own way and style that could not help me progress. And in football , if you are not playing you are not progressing.

Waiswa’s return may not be a surprise as many Ugandan players have endured the same situation before.

At KCCA, it is his second club in Uganda premier League having featured for Vipers before leaving for South Africa in 2019.

While at Vipers, he won the 2017/2018 Uganda premier League title and was named the Airtel Fufa best male player of the year in 2018.

This season, Waiswa has already established as a regular in Morley Byekwaso’s starting team and has one goal on his name in the league that came against SC Villa recently.

And he will be looking forward for more of that so that he can get his career back to track.
