Lower Division Playoffs: Rezlife Level Series Against Kampala Rockets

Rezlife Saints tied their Men Division One finals series 1-1 after beating Nkumba in game two on Sunday at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

Both Rezlife Saints and Kampala Rockets earned the two available promotion slots to National Basketball League next season and are now fighting for championship bragging rights.

The Rockets, who beat Nkumba Marines in semifinals, beat Rezlife 59-55 in Saturday’s game One.

But the Saints, who eliminated Livingston in the semis, fought back on Sunday to level the best of five finals series.

Rezlife got out of their blocks to take a 18-13 first quarter lead and never looked back before winning a 14-point game.

Kampala Rockets’ Garang

Emmanuel Okot led the way with a double double of 27 points and 14 rebounds for the Saints, coached by Nam Blazers point guard Juuko ‘Najja’ Daniel.

Ivan Otyek and Phillip Kalenzi scored 13 and 11 points each respectively.

Deng Kuot (14), Benjamin Kawumi (13), Kur Garang (12) and Suka Fadhil (11) scored in double figures while Gideon Kasasa had nine points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Rockets but their efforts proved not enough on the day.

In the Ladies fixture, Sarah Ageno (17), Roda Naggita (13) and Sarafina Drichuru (10) top scored for JT Lady Jaguars who took are now a win away from winning the Women’s Division One title.

Both JT Lady Jaguars (breakaway team from JKL Lady Dolphins) and Kampala University will play in the Women’s NBL next season.

Lady Jills and Livingston won their respective matches on Sunday to finish third in their Women and Men Division Ones.
