Preview: Bright Stars Banking on Recent Form
Bright Stars will be banking on their recent form when they visit Busoga United on Monday in a league game at Kakindu in Jinja.
Asaph Mwebaze’s charges are firing on all cylinders having won their last three league games.
The run started with a 2-1 run over Onduparaka before 2-0 back-to-back victories against Express and BUL.
Key to those wins has been Nelson Senkatuka who is the joint-leading goalscorer this season with six goals, five of those have come in the last three games!
Senkatuka missed the first games at the club and has now scored more goals than anyone except joint leaders Alex Kitata (Gaddafi) and Yunus Sentamu (Vipers).
And the respected forward who relies on pace and accuracy in front of goal, will be fancying his chances to find the back of the net.
He has got three man of the match accolades this season, and if he remains fit, Bright Stars will be a good contender for the top places this season.
For the hosts, they come into this one desperate for a win having registered only one – against Onduparaka in Bombo – in seven games.
They have lost twice on the bounce including a 2-0 defeat against BUL in the Busoga derby.
Their last game at Kakindu was a 3-0 loss against Express, a match they lost by forfeiture after Allan Kayiwa’s goal was greeted by crowd trouble.
FUFA Disciplinary panel went to deduct three points and three goals from those already accumulated by the club and that has left the club second from the bottom with just three points.
Having survived relegation last season by a whisker, work is cut out by Busoga United this campaign but they have to take advantage of home games first to grind out results.
Both games ended in a draw last season, goalless when Busoga hosted while the second fixture ended 1-1; Anwar Ntege rescued a point for Busoga United after Joseph Janjali had put Bright Stars ahead.
