Vipers Handed Second Loss Of the Season In Jinja

Sunday, December 4
•SC Villa 1-0 Maroons
•Gaddafi 1-0 Vipers SC

Vipers missed a chance to go top of the table after falling 1-0 to Gaddafi FC in a league game on Sunday at Kakindu in Jinja.

Alex Kitata’s early goal proved the difference as the Venoms suffered their second loss since they were beaten at Lugogo by KCCA.

Kitata, just after three minutes, played a quick one-two with Brian Kalumba before unleashing a long drive into Alfred Mudekereza’s goal.

Vipers who played without talisman Yunus Sentamu who has a groin injury, struggled in the final third and withdrew Cromwell Rwothomio inside the first half for Abubakar Lawal.

But even that early gamble couldn’t yield results against a resilient Gaddafi who had Coach Wasswa Bbosa watch proceedings from the stands after his FUFA ban.

Defender Andrew Waiswa almost gave Vipers a lifeline but his headed clearance hit the crossbar.

Ibrahim Orit also saw his powerful shot rattle the woodwork while Hillary Mukundane and Najib Yiga were denied by goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa.

The Venoms remain third with 20 points after 10 games, two points below leaders KCCA while Wakiso Giants who have played a game more are second with 21.

Gaddafi on the other hand, move to sixth place with 16 points after their fourth win of the season.
