•SC Villa 1-0 Maroons
SC Villa returned to winning ways with a hard fought win over Maroons in a league game held at Akii-bua stadium in Lira.
Patrick Jonah Kakande scored the all important goal as the Jogoos edged a tight contest.
Kakande’s goal was another manifest of individual brilliance after the youngster beat Jacob Okao before negotiating his way past Fred Okot and Olega to drive a low shot past goalkeeper Godfrey Akol in the 10th minute.
The Visitors were presented with a good chance to level matters when Kenneth Ssemakula was sent off for deliberately handling the ball to deny a clear goal scoring opportunity.
And the referee rightly pointed to the spot; But Fred Amaku was twice denied by Meddie Kibirige including a rebound.
The Jogoos who played for over 30 minutes with a numerical disadvantage, held on to return to winning ways after defeats against KCCA and Vipers.
SC Villa had an earlier chance to get the second when Umar Lutalo beat the goalkeeper only to be denied by defender Belmos Opio.
Dennis Orombi had a chance to level the scores for Maroons but his shot was blocked by Charles Bbaale.
Kibirige also dived low to keep out a shot from Cephas Kambugu as Maroons search for an equaliser went in vain.
SC Villa now move to 5th position on the table with 17 points as they bounce back to winning ways whereas Maroons remain 11th with 10 points.
What Next – SC Villa will return to action as they face Blacks Power whereas Maroons will be up against Gaddafi in Luzira.
