Preview: Vipers Have Eyes On Summit

Vipers will be targeting top spot when they take on hosts Gaddafi in a league game at Kakindu in Jinja.

Seated third with 20 points, Vipers will go top of the table if they manage to beat Gaddafi on Sunday.

The defending champions who have been playing catch-up since the season started, are yet to move atop this term.

But they have to do it without talisman Yunus Sentamu who despite scoring his seventh goal against SC Villa, limped off in the second half.

Nigerian forward Abubakar Lawal and Cromwell Rwothomio will carry the scoring burden, but the duo are yet to show any promising sign since joining the team this season.

Vipers have been in fine form and have won their last five league games without conceding a goal so far.

They have however picked seven out of a possible 12 points on the road this season having lost to KCCA and shared spoils with Wakiso Giants.

Against Gaddafi, they face a side that is hungry to return to winning ways having lost 2-1 to KCCA at Lugogo in their previous outing.

Gaddafi are yet to lose a home game this season, drawing twice and winning as many, and will be banking on home support for an upset.

Vipers best Gaddafi home and away last season, including a 3-1 victory at Gaddafi Arena on December 1 2021.

Milton Karisa scored a brace and Bright Anukani was also on target. Jamaldin Buchochera brought one back for the Soldier Boys.
