Word Cup: Cameroon Out Despite Stunning Brazil

Friday, December
*Ghana 0-2 Uruguay
*South Korea 2-1 Portugal
*Cameroon 1-0 Brazil
*Serbia 2-3 Switzerland

Cameroon produced the latest shocker with a 1-0 victory against record winners Brazil at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Vincent Abubakar scored in stoppage time to hand Cameroon a historical win, but it was enough as the Indomitable Lions bowed out.

Abubakar headed in off a brilliant cross inside the area, and he was immediately given marching orders for his second yellow card after removing his jersey in celebration.

Rigobert Song’s side held on for the win that took them to four points in their last group game having staged a 3-3 come back earlier against Serbia.

Serbia lost to Switzerland 3-2 in a see-saw game to finish bottom of the pile as the latter progressed on Cameroon’s expense.

Brazil who came into the Cameroon tie having already booked their place at the round of 16, made almost overhaul changes and paid the price.

They had not lost against an African team at a World Cup, a run that included two wins against Cameroon in 1994 and 2014.

It was a good show for Cameroon who leaves the stage with their heads high, but the same cannot be said of Ghana who lost to Uruguay in their last group game to miss the knockout.
