Ghana will be hoping to get their revenge when they face Uruguay in a Group H encounter at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup at the Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah, Qatar.

This is be a repeat of 2010 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal in South Africa where the Black Stars were denied by a Luis Suarez handball before falling out in shootouts.

Ghana were then in control at Soccer City and saw their goal bound effort in the closing minutes handled out by striker Suarez who was shown red as Ghana were awarded a penalty.

Gyan, needing to score to make Ghana the first African nation to reach semis, skied his spot-kick over the bar.

Luis Suarez handled the ball to deny Ghana a late winner in 2010

Ghana were later eliminated in Penalty shootouts with John Mensah and Dominic Adiyiah denied by Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.

And the Black Stars can inflict similar damage with a win that will see them reach round of 16 on Uruguay’s expense.

A draw can as well send Ghana through only if South Korea fail to beat Portugal or win 1-0.

Ghana, making their fourth appearance at the World Cup, fell to Portugal in their group opener but bounced back to overcome South Korea

They will draw inspiration from Senegal and Morocco who have already qualified to the knockout, the latter heading Group F after beating Canada to leave Belgium reeling.
