The annual Henrison Basketball Academy nature and peace tournament is back.
The third edition is slated this Saturday, December 3 at the academy’s home Kabira country club.
Academy director Henrison Mbaziira confirmed the developments adding that the one-day event will start at 8 AM to 6 PM running under the theme ‘nature and peace’ that rhymes with the Academy colours white and green.
“The white colour itself is a symbol of peace and purity, humility, innocence and silence while the green colour is a colour of nature growth, freshness, energy and fertility and it also symbolizes good health,” stated coach Mbaziira, a forward who turns out for Falcons.

In what promises to be a fun day, the program is expected to have kids participate in 1v1, 3v3, 5v5, basketball quiz, shooting contests, free-throw contest, blindfold contest, parents’ shooting contest, chess master, 3-point shooting contest among other activities.
The program shall start with the under-10s competing up to midday, then the bigger group takes on activities after lunch.
A lot of prizes and awards, medals and certificates, trophies are to be given out to those that shall emerge winners.
The academy received gifts from NYAKA Global group this week that include prizes that will be issued out to best performers.
Nyaka, established in 2001 and works with communities to nurture and protect children so they can learn and thrive sent in three boxes of gifts from different NBA players like Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Victor Oladipo among others.
Mbaziira briefly commented: “We are so thankful for this because we didn’t expect it, thank you Nyaka global.”

On Saturday, Rita Assimwe Egonda is the Guest of honour. She is currently working as the Principal of Cherubs International Christian school. She is a facilitator and mentor with Early Risers Uganda, a club focused on giving career guidance to children between ages of 6 to 18. She is also a facilitator with Rhema women’s masters class that empowers women to be the best version of themselves.
The Guest Speaker will be Melissa Ashley who is also a player at HB Academy. The 13-year old is the reigning Little Miss Africa queen 2022/23 a Kidprenuer; CEO of Fabtastic Brands, KidsVoice official Brand Ambassador, a Commercial and Runway model.

Mbazira called upon all Parents to bring their children on Saturday for the tournament at Kabira “because it’s not only about playing basketball and fun but also the mentorship and life skills to be learnt.”
