Preview: Vipers Have Eyes On Fifth Straight Win
Vipers will fancy their chances against unconvincing SC Villa when the two sides face off at Kitende.
The Venoms have won four in a row, with their latest being a 1-0 away victory against URA FC.
The one against URA wasn’t a fitting performance after Vipers struggled to make ends meet but Ibrahim Orit saw his effort deflected into goal to collect maximum points.
With Yunus Sentamu expected to be back in the fold, Vipers will feel that they have enough in their armoury to take down Villa.
At Kitende this season, they have won three in a row since that opening goalless draw against Bright Stars.
The side is yet to concede a goal at home this season – Bright Stars (0-0), Maroons (3-0), Arua Hill (1-0) and UPDF (4-0).
For SC Villa, they come into this fixture on a back of a 3-0 loss against KCCA at Lira where they will continue hosting their next four games after FUFA ban for fans hooliganism.
“We can’t afford to lose two consecutive games if we are to keep our hopes high of wining the league this season,” Villa captain Fred Gift spoke with confidence.
“This (Vipers game) means a lot to us, we didn’t have the best of our performance against KCCA but we have rectified our errors and fixed this mentally, tactically and physically and I am sure we shall pick a good result at Kitende.
“They (Vipers) are a good team with good players but we are ready to take them on and we are equal to the task. A great champion never sleeps.”
Villa have managed to pick some decent results in the past at Kitende, but last season they were thumped 3-0 with Caesar Manzoki (2) and Yunus Sentamu on target.
