Wakiso Giants beat Express 3-2 to consolidate their place atop the Uganda Premier League table.

But the Purple Sharks had to survive a great comeback from Express who recovered from two goals down to level the game through Anwar Ntege’s brace.

But Frank Sebuufu, who also scored a brace, got what proved to be the winner just before the hour-mark.

Sebuufu gave Wakiso Giants an early lead with a diving header off a good delivery from Ibrahim Kasule.

John Ayala Luyinda’s side doubled their advantage when Kasule made a good run to nod in a good cross from Grant Matsiko.

But Express brought one back with the third headed-goal of the game before halftime. Ntege powered in a header after he ran at the end of a long ball from Farouk Katongole.

Ntege levelled matters two minutes into the second half when he was unmarked to volley in off the post.

But Express FC’s fight back was later hard done when Kasule freed Sebuufu to finish at the far end from a tight angle.

Ntege had a chance to level matters but he arrive late as a neat cross from Hassan Mubiru went begging.

It’s the first win for the Purple sharks against Express in five game, and the side move to 21 points.
