The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary panel has suspended Gaddafi FC duo of head coach Wasswa Bbosa and winger Godfrey Lwesibawa for misconduct during a Uganda Premier League game.
In the game played at Kabaka Kyabagu Stadium on 18th this month between Gaddafi and Wakiso Giants, Bbosa and Lwesibawa confronted and threatened the centre referee after Wakiso Giants were awarded a penalty at the stroke of half time.
The incident that turned off Gaddafi arrived in the 44th, when the Giants were awarded a penalty after Lwesibawa brought down Ibrahim Kasule in the area.
Bbosa and his technical team entered the field of play, threatened the centre referee and the game was halted for a couple of minutes.
Following a review, the Competitions panel has found Bbosa and Lwesibawa guilty and thus being suspended for two competitive games.
Bbosa has also been fined 1,000,000 shs, to be paid upon completion of his suspension.
The statement from the competitions panel reads:
“1. Wasswa Bossa is SUSPENDED for two competition matches effective immediately as of 28th November 2022.
- The management of the club is directed to ensure implementation of the above sanction or it will suffer the consequences of fielding ineligible persons.
- A fine of UGX 1,000,000(Uganda Shillings One Million) to be paid by completion of the suspension in sanction no.1 above to be paid to the FUFA account and bring proof of payment of the same to the committee.
- Wasswa Bossa is prohibited from taking part in any football activities until payment of the above prescribed fine.
- The club management is directed to ensure implementation of the Committee’s decision against Wasswa Bbosa.”
The competitions panel has ordered the club management to ensure implementation of the above sanction or it will suffer the consequences of fielding ineligible persons.
And Should the player fail to abide by the sanctions above, the Competitions department shall be forced to take further action on the player.
It is a big blow to Bbosa and Lwesibawa, who are all in their first season at Gaddafi.
The pair will start their suspensions on Tuesday as Gaddafi visit against KCCA at Lugogo before missing the home game against Vipers on December 4th in Jinja.
