Netball Rankings: She Cranes Slip Back To Seventh

She Cranes have dropped back to seventh in the official Netball World rankings published by world Netball.

This means that Uganda is likely to be seeded 7th going into the World Cup to be played in July next year in South Africa.

Per the last rankings released on August 15, 2022, Uganda had maintained its 6th spot, which they had obtained towards the end of last year, earning them an automatic qualification to World Cup next year.

The She Cranes had an impressive performance in Commonwealth games where they had their best finish ever when they finished fifth.

World Netball indicated that the She Cranes failure to honor some of its August and September fixtures which could have won them some ranking points saw them slip back to seventh, leapfrogged by Malawi who did honor theirs.

“Uganda’s and Jamaica’s rankings have been impacted by their failure to fulfill fixtures during August and September” World Netball stated.

It should be noted that She Cranes snubbed the Africa Netball World Cup qualifiers where Malawi finished second behind winners South Africa.
