State Minister for Sports Hon Peter Ogwang has urged the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) to take the game to all parts of the country.
Ogwang, was officiating at the 2022 Kaliro Sugar Rally over the weekend in Iganda.
The Minister also commended Central Motor Club for organising a good event, and promised Sh200m to the club for every event they host in different region.
Ogwang believes that this will not only promote the Sport but also boost local tourism.
It’s strong to note that Ogwang replaced Hamson Obua who was consequently appointed as the Government Chief Whip.
He aknowlwdged that motorsport has a huge fan base in Uganda and will economically benefit the different regions in the country from food vendors, media houses, official rally staff, stewards among others.
In Kaliro, the rally crew of Ronald Seebuguzi and Anthony Mugambwa emerged winners in a total time of 1:40:20.
Jonas Kansiime, driving a Mitsubish Evo 7, came second despite protesting the final results. Byron Rugomoka completed the podium places.
But Ponsiano Lwakataka remains on top of the leaderboard with 332 points.
The last and decisive rally, the Kigezi Boona, will be held next month by MOSAC in Rukungiri.
