Sadio Mane Set To Miss World Cup in Qatar

Senegal captain Sadio Mane has been ruled out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, per reports.

Mane is said to have picked up an injury in a Bundesliga clash as Bayern Munich beat Werder Bremen 6-1 on Tuesday.

Per L’Equipe, the former Liverpool striker suffered a Tendon and expected to miss several weeks!

Bayern has issued a statement on Wednesday:

“Sadio Mane suffered an injury to his right fibula during #FCBSVW. He will miss the game against Schalke.

“Further examinations will follow in the coming days, and FC Bayern are in contact with the medical staff of the Senegalese Football Association.”

This comes just two days before Senegal coach Aliou Cisse summons his squad for the World Cup.

Mane who was second in Ballon D’or is Senegal’s all-time goalscorer for Senegal with 34 goals in 93 games.

He is an inspiration for Senegal on an off the pitch and was part of the Terranga Lions squad that featured at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
