St. Lawrence University will be seeking to reach a second successive final when they face off with Mubs in the semi final return leg of the ongoing University Football league.

St. Lawrence beat Mubs 2-1 in the first leg played at Kavule Mpigi last week.

Second half goals from danger man Bruno Bunyaga and Kayongo Micheal ensured that SLAU for St. Lawrence completed a come back after Nazar Benjamin had put Mubs ahead.

And on Tuesday, against Mubs, they will be seeking to return to a successive final ever since 2019 when they lost to now defending champions UCU by 2-1 in the finals held at Lugogo.

They will bank on the fact that they were the better side in the first leg and they could have scored more but were wasteful.

But this, being a knock out stage, St. Lawrence must put that in mind against a side that has rich history in this competition.

Their sharp striker Bruno Bunyaga, who is the top scorer with 11 goals so far will once again be tasked to lift up his side on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the hosts Makerere University Business school will be seeking to overturn the first leg deficit when St. Lawrence pays a visit to nakawa.

Mubs, who bounced back to this competition following a successful Petition over Kyambogo suffered a 2-1 defeat in the first leg.

But having scored an away goal, it is an advantage to the Nakawa based side given the fact that away goals rule still applies in Africa.

They will now need any goalless draw or even a 1-0 win to advance to the finals since 2017, when they lost 2-0 against Uganda Martyrs in the finals held at then Namboole stadium.

Coached by Ali Zzinda, Mubs who are two time champions will also bank on the home advantage, just like they did when they won all their group home games this edition.

The winner on aggregate between Mubs and st. Lawrence University will face Uganda Martrys University, who earlier on last week on Thursday ejected defending champions UCU 5-4 on penalties.

Just like it was in 2019, this year’s final is slated to take place at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo at a date that will be communicated by the Competitions committee.
