Preview: BUL Seek to continue with impressive start
Uganda Premier League leaders BUL will hope to continue with their unbeaten start to the season when they host Onduparaka at FUFA Technical Centre Njeru.
The Uganda Cup Champions will bank on their record against their counterpart that sees them unbeaten in their last six outings.
BUL who are unbeaten this season, comes into this game at the back of a one-all draw with Gadaffi FC in the Derby at Kakindu stadium.
Ibrahim Kazindula gave BUL the lead before Bakali Magumba restored parity.
While Addressing the club media ahead of the game, BUL FC Head Coach Alex Isabirye anticipate a difficult match but will hope to return to winning ways having drawn their last match in order to maintain the top spot.
“I know the game won’t be easy, Onduparaka have gone three games without a win and they will come all out to see that they get the results but we are ready for the gamee,” Isabirye told the club media on Tuesday.
“We drew our previous game so we need to get a win so that we maintain our position.”
BUL FC Midfielder Ibrahim Kazindula has urged fans to rally behind them after a disappointment in the Derby.
“We are ready for Onduparaka and we are prepared to win that game, we dropped the points against Gadaffi so we call upon our fans to come and support us because we deserve three points, we drew with them last season at home but this time we are more hungry to get three points.”
For Onduparaka, they will be wary of their poor record against BUL as they hunt for their maiden victory this season.
The last time the Caterpillars defeated BUL was a 1-0 victory at the Greenlight Stadium courtesy of Gaddafi Wahab 61st minute penalty in 2019.
Onduparaka is yet to score a goal from open play after Emmanuel Okech scored from the spot in the last game for their first of the season.
Coming into this game, Onduparaka succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Express in Bombo.
Marvin Oshaba and Daniel Shabena were on target for Express while Emmanuel Okech scored for Onduparaka from the penalty kick.
Onduparaka Assistant Coach Hamza Kalanzi is confident they will come out on top.
“We have prepared for the game against BUL, we hope this time we shall score so that we can get the three points and we are going to work hard so that we can get them,” Kalanzi disclosed.
“We started scoring though it was a penalty but we had chances and now what we are preparing is how to convert them and I think this time we shall covert them.
“So let everybody be patient I think we shall have a good game.”
Yakini Rashid, Onduparaka Assistant Captain, hopes they will bounce back from their first defeat of the season.
“We urge all our fans to be behind us though we lost our first game last week but we shall bounce back.
“We are ready for the game and we shall fight hard, we want to score first and win our first game because the coach has motivated us.
“We are focused and am very sure that we shall score goals so that we win for the first time, it will be a pleasure if we win.
In the reverse fixture last season, they settled for a goalless draw at Kyabazinga Stadium Bugembe.
