Kalanzi Believes Onduparaka Will Come Back Stronger

Onduparaka Assistant Coach Hamza Kalanzi says his side will come back stronger after a poor to the 2022/23 to the Uganda Premier League season.

The Caterpillars sit bottom of the league table with just a point in four games!

They are however unbeaten but have three draws and lost once. However, due to a FUFA ban imposed on the side, they started the season with negative two points.

Their last league game was a 2-1 loss against Express at Bombo, and Kalanzi blames the defeat to lack of concentration at the back.

Marvin Oshaba and Daniel Shabena both capitalised on the poor defending by the hosts to give the Visitors the lead.

And Emmanuel Okech scored the only goal for the Caterpillars very late in the game from the penalty kick.

Onduparaka came into the Express in search for their first goal of the season, which they achieved in expense of a loss!

“The boys wanted too much to score and they forgot their duties at the back, and hence they lacked concentration in defence,” Kalanzi said.

“The league is a marathon, we have lost but we shall win other games and I believe in the Boys. Its good that we have had our first goal though we have not won, I am optimistic that we shall do better.”

Onduparaka have already hosted two of their five matches in Bombo behind closed doors in response to the FUFA ban.

Kalanzi has called upon the fans to be patient and rally behind their team.

“I urge the fans not to lose hope, we are fighting nail and foot to collect some points though we have failed against Express, let them be calm and patient, we promise to make them happy.”

Next on the agenda for Onduparaka is an away trip to BUL at FUFA Technical Centre Njeru on Wednesday 2nd November.
