FISU 3×3: UCU Canons Reach Quarters

Uganda Christian University (UCU) 3×3 basketball men’s team, the UCU Canons, have stormed the Quarterfinals of the ongoing FISU World Cup 3X3 basketball tournament in Instabul, Turkey.

The Canons beat UNLAM (Argentina) 21-13 and lost ITU (Turkey) 12-14 to get out of their group.

And in the round of 16, they managed to overcome UBBAT of Algeria 21-10 to reach Saturday’s quarterfinals.

The team comprises of four players – Fayed Baale, Titus Lual, David Okello and David Deng Dikong.

In the Quarterfinals, they will face MU of Australia who earlier beat ITU (Turkey) 21-17 in the Quarterfinals.

The UCU Lady Canons start their journey on Friday with a double header against ISEG (Senegal) and LU (New Zealand).

The Women side has Agatha Kamwada, Rose Akon, Hajjara Najjuko and Shakira Nanvubya.

UCU teams qualified to these games after winning gold respectively at the 4th Afro-varsity basketball 3×3 challenge in Nairobi, Kenya last year.
