She Cranes Regroup for Fast 5

She Cranes head coach Fred Mugerwa has summoned 12 players ahead of the Fast Five World series preparations.

This is going to be Uganda’s first time to take part in this tournament slated between 5th and 6th November 2022, with New Zealand as the hosts.

But despite naming 12 players, only 7 turned up for the training and Mugerwa had much to say about their absence.

“Today we have started training on Tuesday 25th but only 7 turned up. Two (Christine Namuyomba and Mercy Bamutaliza) players are on their way from Tanzania but I expect a full house by Wednesday,” Mugerwa said.

“On our first day, we have put our first emphasis on the rules of first five, for instance substitution, how to count goals and the centre pass.

“This has given us a clear picture. We expect to end of trainings on Saturday and we want to compete while in New Zealand.”

She Cranes captain Peace Proscovia, who Plies her trade with English side Storm Surrey and Mary Nuba (Loughborough Lightening) are part of the summoned players.

The team is mostly dorminated by local based players and training will commence as soon as possible ahead of the World series.
