•Uganda 36-17 Zambia

Uganda national women’s Rugby 15s team, the Lady Cranes, overcame Zambia in their opening Group game at the Rugby Women Africa Cup.

Uganda scored three tries to win 36-17 at Wankulukuku and will return to action on November 2 against Kenya in their last group B game.

Angela Nanyonjo and Peace Lekuru scored a try each but it was Charlotte Mudoola who ran the show with a try and added the other points with her boot.

Mudoola, in her 26-point performance, kicked in five penalties and thrice split the uprights with her conversions to get Uganda across the line.

But coach Leo Lubambula will feel he has more work to do after his side let in two tries, but it was such a fantastic performance for Uganda who sit four places below Zambia in World Rankings.

Uganda want to win this Pool B to qualify for the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup First Division due next year.

This is a long qualification process for the Women’s 2025 Rugby World Cup that will be held in England, with just one ticket available in these qualifiers for the African continent.

Remaining Fixtures:
*Kenya vs Zambia – 29th October
*Uganda vs Kenya – 2nd November
