Big League: NEC stun Police

New entrants NEC FC beat Police FC 2-0 in a FUFA Big League encounter at Coffee grounds in Bugolobi.

Julius Maggu Kazibwe and Kavuma Marvin scored for NEC FC to extend their impressive start on their debut in second division.

The Cops, under coach Angelo Lonyesi, tried to open up play with a more attacking game, but were the second best on the day.

And it could have been worse for Police, relegated from UPL, but NEC earlier missed from the spot.

Police FC had the first chance on goal as Kiibi William combined with Kakeeto David for a keeper to beat effort but his effort couldn’t trouble goalkeeper Jeans Wokorach in the early exchanges.

With NEC taking the game to Police FC, they forced the Visitors into defensive mistakes which forced them to concede a penalty in the 39th minute.

But Striker Ssekiranda Derrick missed from the spot after a good save by goalkeeper Davis Mutebi

In the second stanza, it was all for the hosts to take as they dominated from the minute the game resumed and their efforts were paid off as Julius Maggu Kazibwe opened up the scoring in the 56th minute.

Police FC pushed hard to find an equaliser but NEC defended in numbers as they couldn’t find a way to beat their defence line.

As the game came close to an end, NEC FC captain Kavuma Marvin pounced on a loose ball in the Police FC defence to directk his shot in the back of the net to double the lead in the 90th minute.

A 2-0 win for NEC FC has put them top of the log with maximum points collected from both of their games they have played so far.

They will make a short trip to Bombo to face Ndejje University in their third game.

Police FC have succumbed to their first defeat in the Big league and they will fancy a return to winning ways when they host Kataka at their home in Kavumba.
