Uganda Withdraw From AFCON U23 Qualifiers

The U23 National Team (Uganda Kobs) has been withdrawn from the 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The development was confirmed by the FUFA President Eng. Magogo Moses at the 98th FUFA Ordinary General Assembly in Gulu city on Saturday, October 15th, citing financial hardships.

“FUFA Executive Committee took a painful decision to withdraw the U23 team the AFCON Qualifiers where we were supposed to play against Guinea due to financial constraints,” confirmed the FUFA President.

The Kobs were scheduled to face Guinea in the second round of Qualifiers on Saturday 22nd October for the first leg at Chamazi Stadium in Tanzania.

The second was to be played on 29th October at St Mary’s stadium.

The AFCON U23 Cup will kickoff in June 2023 and it will be hosted by Morocco.
