Mbarara City will start their FUFA Big League season with a home fixture against Booma at Kakyeka Stadium.

The Ankole Lions were relegated back to Big League after finishing 15th last season in Uganda Premier League with 25 points.

That put an end to their stay in UPL since promotion in 2017 when they beat Synergy at Lugogo in the Big League playoffs final.

From last season, they let go of a couple of players including Ronald Otti, Pistis Barenge, Makueth Wol, Dudu Ramathan among others.

Among the retained players include Henry Kitegenyi, Solomon Okwalinga, Jude Ssemugabi, Seiri Arigumaho and Karim Ramathan among others

They were very busy in the transfer window, bringing in players like Hakim Magombe, Lawrence Ndugga, Ibrahim Tembo, Jungu Methodius, Med Kyeyune and Jamir Kisitu Nvule among others.

In Booma FC, they face a newcomer who were promoted to Big League after overcoming Rwenzori Lions in the Kitara Regional League playoffs final.

That ended a spell of failed attempts having lost to Terrazzo and Tiles back in 2020/21 and Kasese New Villa in another season.

The Tukyate Boys have made 14 new signings including Strikers Malish Jamal from Onduparaka, Kimuli Gerald from Nyamityobora, Midfielders Sserunjogi Arnold from Proline and Doodi Ismail from Kirasa United.
