*Maroons 0-0 Wakiso Giants
*Blacks Power 1-1 Bright Stars
Maroons goalkeeper Simon Tamale was named man of the match as his side denied Wakiso Giants maximum points at Luzira.
The goalkeeper pulled out a couple of saves and Wakiso Giants settled for their first point of the season.
The Purple Sharks gets off the mark after falling 3-2 against KCCA in their league opener at Lugogo.
For Maroons, it was a back to back barren draw after another 0-0 result away to Bright Stars last Tuesday.
And they move to give points from three games having started their return to UPL with a 5-0 win over Busoga United.
Both coaches made changes in their previous lineups where Muhammad Senfuma handed Brian Nkuubi and Samson Kigozi their Maroons league debut replacing Lawrence Tezikya and Isaac Mpagi.
For the visitors, John Luyinda opted for Samson Kirya, Lawrence Bukenya and Frank Sebuufu who replaced Sekagya, Joshua Lubwama and Shariph Kimbowa respectively.
But it was an exchange characterised by fewer clear cut chances.
Maroons had the first chance of the game when goalkeeper Kirya parried Nkuubi’s close attempt into the corner.
And Tamale on the other side did the same to deny Frank Sebuufu.
Man of the match Tamale was later called into action with a top class save when he pulled out a reflex save to finger-tip George Kaddu’s free kick into a corner.
Maroons had a chance to move to the dressing room with a goal but Moses Aliro pulled a header block which denied Solomon Walusimbi’s shot which was aiming at far post.
Aliro had a one on one with goalkeeper Tamale, who proved too good to immediately cover up space before Aliro ran out of better options.
With three minutes to the 90, again Tamale raised to the occasion to finger-tip Substitute Komaketch’s free kick into a corner kick to keep his third straight clean sheet and his second consecutive man of the match award.
Maroons remained second on the table with 5 points from games and they Visit Arua Hill in they next fixture on October 22.
After their first point of the season, Wakiso move to 11th position after two games and they will host Blacks Power on October 21
