*Mubs 1-2 Kyambogo Agg (3-3)
Kyambogo University beat Makerere University Business school on penalties 4-1 to reach this year’s semi finals of the ongoing University Football league.
In normal time, Kyambogo needed a late goal from Laka Joram to give them a 2-1 lead and as well putting the tie back to square.
Mubs had won 2-1 in the first leg and were on course to reaching the next stage.
At Nakawa, former Buddu Ssaza forward Sharif Ssengendo scored from a well taken free kick in the 7th minute to give Mubs a bright start.
But Joel Nkwanga levelled matters for Kyambogo before half time in the 27th minute, with his left powerful shot outside the area beating the Mubs goalkeeper.
In the second stanza, Kyambogo returned back a better side as they launched various attacks against a more defensive minded Mubs side.
They had better chances to score but Pascal Miiro’s effort hit the post while Mbalire Hudson also came closer.
But despite their dorminance, they had to wait till the 90th when Joram found himself in the right place at the right time to tap in from Mbalire Hudson’s header. His goal meant that the tie could only be decided from the spot kicks.
In penalities, Kyambogo Goalkeeper Ahebwomugisha Andrew was the hero of the day as he kept out Ssebagala Peter and Wataike Raymond’s penalties respectively.
Mbalire Hudson, Miiro Pascal Junior, Olila Desmond and Nsamba Paul all scored their respective penalties to ensure that the Banda based side reached finals.
Defender Odongo Arnold scored the only penalty as Mubs bowed out of this year’s competition.
Kyambogo now joins Uganda Martyrs, UCU and St. Lawrence university who already sealed a place in the semi finals of this year’s University football league.
