AFCON U17 Qualifiers: Uganda Cubs Storm Semis

Thursday, October 6
*South Sudan 1-4 Uganda

Uganda dispatched South Sudan in their last group B game to reach the semifinals of the ongoing AFCON U17 Qualifiers in Ethiopia.

Arafat Nkoola scored a brace while Patrick Sembuusi and Abubakar Walusimbi were also on target as Uganda continued their brilliant display.

The Cubs earlier beat Burundi 4-0 in their opener, and have now finished atop of the three-team group with six points.

“I feel great after reaching this stage, we still do not know who we are going to face next but we are ready for anyone,” Uganda Cubs coach Hamza Lutalo.

“If we lose at the semifinals that means that all our previous effort has gone to waste, so we have to continue being at our best as we target the top prize.”

The best two teams in the qualifiers will qualify for the U-17 AFCON to be staged in Algeria next year.
