Uganda Martyrs has denied defending Champion She Corporate yet another chance for their first win of the season.
The two sides played out a one all draw in the Saturday’s morning kick-off of FUFA women Super League day three, played at St Gerald play ground Lubaga.
Latifa Nakasi’s 75th minute strike canceled out new signing Jackline Nakasi’s 50th minute goal, which was also her first in She corporate jersey, a side she joined from UCU Ladies.
The result means that the defending champions remain winless with just two points after three games while Uganda Martyrs kept their unbeaten run intact to go top with seven points.
Both sides were not as fluent as it was expected and struggled to keep possession in opening exchanges.
The hosts paused the first threat in fifth minute but Catherine Nagadya’s attempt lacked pace to beat Fatima Matovu who had a easy catch.
Few moments later, the Visitors nearly responded with a goal but Joaniata Ainembabazi’s header off Cissy Nantogo’s corner kick just went over the bar.
Just before halftime, both sides had chances to score an opener, but both striking lines looked sloppy as chances went begging.
Just five minutes into the second stanza, Nabbumba capitalised on Nabulobi’s poor taken goal kick to set Jackie Nakasi who did no mistake to beat helpless Sharon Kaidu in the bottom right corner.
The goal awakened the hosts who started to play with intent and dangerous substitute Sumaiya Nalumu who replaced Brenda Munyana changing the proceedings, compiling pressure to Visitors backline.
And the pressure paid off in the 75th minute when Aminah Nakato failed to clear the ball from her box, which was picked up by Nakasi to net in an equaliser to send the home crowd in the air.
The goal, was also Nakasi’s third in two games this season after netting a brace on her first game of the season against Gafford Ladies seven days back.
Uganda Martyrs will visit title favourite Kampala Queens in their next fixture next Saturday while She Corporate will host UCU Lady Cardinals.
