National Rugby 7s: Jinja Hippos clinch Kyabazinga Circuit

Jinja Hippos won the Kyabazinga Circuit to close in on this year’s National Rugby 7s title.

Denis Etwau scored the only Try as Hippos beat KOBs in a closely contested final to win their first circuit this season.

But they have been the most consistent team having played in three finals prior to the Jinja leg at Bugembe Stadium played on Saturday and Sunday.

The Jinja-based side consolidate themselves on top of the log with 109 points, 7 above Heathens ahead of the final leg at Kyadondo on October 16.

And they will be crowned champions if they at least finish third at Kyadondo.

Playing in front of the passionate home crowd, Hippos were outstanding starting on Day One on Saturday to reach the knockout.

And on Sunday, they beat Mongers 12-07 at the quarters before eliminating Pirates 14-07 in the semis to reach their fourth final in six circuits.
