Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC have announced the signing of youngster Haruna Lukwago on a five years deal.
Lukwago joins the Kasasiro Boys from Eastern regional league side Mbale Heroes.
The youngster’s signing was completed with just a day to the closure of the transfer window and he expressed his excitement after being unveiled on Monday evening.
“I am delighted to join KCCA FC. It is every young player’s dream to play for a club like KCCA FC,” said Haruna Lukwago.
Lukwago impressed the KCCA FC coaching staff during his trial stint at the club as he was part of the junior team which won the U20 Cambiaso cup in Tanzania.
“I was so happy when I got my first chance with the club in the Cambiasso and Rainbow U20 International Tournament in Dar es salaam, Tanzania and we won it. It was a very good feeling for me and my mates,” Lukwago told the club media.
Haruna Lukwago is confident of emulating the success with the junior side to the senior team which has now gone two seasons without tasting silverware.
“It is the same success I want to achieve now that I have been signed to the senior team. I want to give my best for this club and win here. The junior team coaches Richard Malinga, Saka Mpiima and the Club Manager Morley Byekwaso have told me how the responsibilities of the senior team are different from those of the junior team and I believe I am ready for the task ahead.”
A versatile wingback defender, Lukwago is tasked to push hard for a spot on the senior team as he has to beat competition from experienced players like Filbert Obenchan, Hassan Jurua, Mustafa Mujuzi and Peter Magambo.
He becomes the tenth player to join KCCA FC in this transfer window after Daniel Isiagi, Mujuzi Musitafa, Shaban Muhamad, Tshisungu Kankonde, Moses Waiswa, Ssenoga Muhamed, and teenagers Faisal Wabyoona, Saidi Mayanja, and Allan Enyou.
