USPA Monthly Awards: Uganda Sevens, Kiplangat Among Winners

USPA Monthly Winners:
•January – U19 Boys Cricket team
•February – Halimah Nakaayi
•March – Husnah Kukundakwe
•April – Uganda 7s
•May – Jas Mangat
•June – Crested Cranes
•July – Victor Kiplangat
•August – Jacob Kiplimo


Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) have voted for the best Sports personalities/teams for the concluded months in 2022.

Among winners include Rugby Cranes team that won the Africa Cup and Victor Kiplangat for his heroics at the Commonwealth Games.

The Uganda U19 Boys Cricket team were named the best of January after playing at the U19 World Cup in West Indies where they finished 13th.

February went to middle distance runner Halimah Nakaayi for winning the 800m race at Meeting de l’Eure of the World Athletics Indoor Toor in a national record time of 1:59.55, she also later improved the time to 1:58.58 at meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais.

The best of March award went to Para Swimmer Husnah Kukundakwe for her World Para-Series Championships in Italy.

The Uganda Sevens team won the April award unanimously for their victory at the Rugby Africa 7s triumph at Kyadondo as they also qualified for Commonwealth and World Cup 7s.

Jas Mangat and his Navigator Joseph Kamya were the best of May after winning the Pearl of Africa Rally.

Crested Cranes took home best of June after winning their first ever CECAFA Women Championship at Njeru.

Victor Kiplangat who won the Commonwealth Games Marathon in Birmingham, the first Ugandan to do so, was named the best of July.

And Jacob Kiplimo took the gong for August after winning the commonwealth double gold of 5000m and 10000 in Birmingham.

They will be receiving their awards plaques in forthcoming Meetings, awaiting official communication.
