Micho Names Final Squad For Libya, Tanzania Friendlies

Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic has named his final squad for the Tri-nations friendly tournament in Libya.

Uganda will face hosts Libya on Wednesday before Tanzania on Saturday next week in Benghazi.

The mini tournament will basically prepare the Uganda U23 team to face Guinea in AFCON U23 Qualifiers.

The team flies out on Sunday, with the foreign based players set to join the local contingent in Libya.

The initial summoned squad played two friendlies (Tonny Mawejje’s Testimonials) at Lugogo and Masaka.

Micho has dropped a couple of players including those who never played a minute in those two games like Travis Mutyaba who is with St Andrew Gombe in Arusha for the East Africa games.

The dropped players are goalkeepers Shamulan Kamya (Impala Hill) and Abdu Magada (Gadaffi FC), two Defenders Samson Kasozi (UPDF FC) and Simon Baligenya (URA FC)

Eight Midfielders – Najib Yiga (Vipers SC), Ivan Irinimbabazi (Soltilo Bright Stars FC), Abdallah Salim (URA FC), Issa Bugembe (Soltilo Bright Stars FC), Faisal Wabyoona (KCCA FC), Saidi Mayanja (KCCA FC) and Rogers Mugisha (UPDF FC) have not made the final squad.

The Forwards who have been left out are Hakim Kiwanuka (Proline FC) and Travis Mutyaba (SC Villa).
