Uganda U17 national football team, the Cubs, have learnt their group opponents in the forthcoming AFCON U17 CECAFA zonal qualifiers.
In the draws held on Thursday for the Cecafa region, the Cubs have been pitted in group B alongside Djibouti, Rwanda, Sudan and Burundi.
These Qualifiers will kick start on September 30th until October 19th 2022 at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Currently, the team is already in camp at the Fufa technical centre in Njeru as they gear up for the forthcoming engagements.
It is strong to note that Uganda are the defending champions having won the last edition held in December 2020 in Rwanda.
Then, Young stars Travis Mutyaba and Oscar Mawa were key members on that team that won the championship. The pair were named Most valuable player and top scorer respectively.
In the upcoming qualifiers, the top two teams from each group will qualify for semi finals with the winner booking a ticket to represent the region at the 2023 AFCON U17 finals in Algeria.
Group A – Ethiopia (hosts), Tanzania, Eritrea, Somalia and South Sudan.
Group B – Uganda, Djibouti, Rwanda, Sudan and Burundi.
