Africa Boxing Championships: Uganda Settles For Two Bronze Medals

The Uganda National Boxing national team, the Bombers, settled for two bronze medals at the Africa Boxing Championships in Maputo, Mozambique.

Boxers Jonah Kyobe and Yusuf Nkobeza fell short in their Semifinal fights to miss a place in the final and hence settle for bronze.

Kyobe lost his featherweight fight against Sogauque Armando Rugoberto of Mozambique to earn his first medal on the Bombers team.

Nkobeza also had his chase for Gold cut short after being stopped in the semis in the middleweight category against experienced Moroccan Gharroumi Driss.

Both Kyobe and Nkobeza will walk home with 2500 US Dollars each for winning bronze medals.

Uganda entered a team of seven boxers at the African Championship and they will return home with smiling faces, at least, after winning two medals.

Bombers squad at African Boxing Championships: Tukamuhebwa Joshua (c), Isaac Zebra Ssenyange, Kibira Owen, Idris Mukiibi, Nkobeza Yusufu, Kyobe Jonah and Teddy Nakimuli.
