•Mawejje’s 2017 Cranes Team Vs Uganda U23 Team – Masaka

Retiring Midfield maestro Tonny Mawejje played his first of two testimonials at a well attended event in Lugogo.

His side, composed of some players that helped Uganda qualify for AFCON 2017, emerged victorious against Micho’s Uganda Cranes team, composed of U23 players.

Hakim Kiwanuka scored the opening goal for the U23 team when he bundled in an empty net after Richard Bassangwa had rounded goalkeeper Denis Onyango.

But Mawejje’s team levelled before halftime, thanks to Emmanuel Okwi who was cleverly put through by Paul Mucureezi before a neat calm finish.

Muhammad Shaban then slotted in the second just before the hour-mark after he was collected by Geoffrey Massa.

Mawejje had a standing ovation in the 6th minute (iconic shirt number) when play was stopped for a minute.

And now all roads lead to Masaka for the last match on Friday with all proceeds from both testimonials will help the midfielder start up a Football Academy.
