Team Uganda has left for the 20th edition of the East African Secondary Schools Sports Championships due September 14-23rd in Arusha, Tanzania.
The team was flagged off on Tuesday by State Minister for Higher Education Chrizestom Muyingo at Hockey pitch in Lugogo.
Hon. Muyingo was accompanied by new State Minister for Sport Hon. Peter Ogwang, Commissioner for Sport Rev. Duncan Mugumya, NCS General Secretary Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel, USSSA President Justus Mugisha among others.
He urged all schools to encourage and allow their children to take part in Sports Activities.
His remarks were re-echoed by Hon. Ogwang who added that the Co-curricular activities reduce school drop outs.
Minister Ogwang also tasked the youngsters to try and emulate the national super stars like Dorcus Inzikuru who was present at the function.
The boys have set off for Arusha, Tanzania where they will take part in the EA Games.

Uganda takes the biggest contingent with 990 athletes & 137 officials.
Hosts Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda and Zanzibar are the countries to take part.
It’s strong to note that Uganda won gold in Football (both boys and girls), Volleyball (girls), Hockey (girls), Netball (girls), Basketball (boys and girls), Badminton (boys and girls), Table Tennis (girls) and Lawn Tennis (girls).
There will be 12 sports disciplines that will be competed in:
- Football (boys and girls)
- Volleyball (boys and girls)
- Handball (boys and girls)
- Hockey (boys and girls)
- Netball
- Rugby
- Basketball (boys and girls)
- Badminton (boys and girls)
- Table tennis (boys and girls)
- Lawn tennis (boys and girls)
- Swimming (boys and girls)
- Athletics (boys and girls).
