Uganda Premier League record winners SC Villa have confirmed Jackson Magera as the head coach a head for the upcoming 2022/2023 season.
The Jogoos parted ways with Greek coach Petrous Koukoros at the end of the season after guiding them to 12th place in the league with 33 points.
Magera was confirmed in a press briefing at Villa park on Sunday and he will be deputised Ibrahim Kirya who makes a return to the Club.
The appointment of Magera was confirmed by Vice president Daniel Bakaki at the fans meeting.
“Apparently, we have appointed Ibrahim Kirya as the assistant coach to deputise Jackson Magera who will be our head coach in the coming season,” said Bakaki.
Magera who was the assistant to Petrous Koukoros will be tasked with the big job of pushing SC Villa back to the glory days as they last tasted silverware in 2015 when they won the Uganda Cup.
The Jogoos lost many senior players who played a huge part in their stay in the league last season but their recruitment process remains questionable.
Bakaki termed their transfer as a grooming process where they will use a lot of younger players.
“We have recruited new players and the team has been training. We are soon unveiling the new players and I am sure there are some big name players,” Bakaki added.
“So the senior players are there but we are also looking at grooming players at the team.”
The 16-time Uganda Premier league champions will host the next season games at Wankulukuku with rivals Express FC.
At the fans meeting, the club also announced computerized seasonal tickets that will be sold at various fans branches.
Gold Seasonal tickets are for Shs750,000 (comprises of home and away jersey) while Ordinary will be for Shs250,000.
