Vipers picked a big win against hosts Real Olympic De Bangui in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

The Venoms won 3-0 in a game played at the Stade Alphonse Massamba Debat in Congo Brazzaville.

Debut goals for Lumala Abdu and Isa Mubiru while Najib Yiga was also on target as the Uganda Premier League champions proved no match for Central Africa Republican side.

The match was played in Brazzaville as there was no stadium in CAR that met CAF Licensing requirements.

And the game had to start three hours after the initially scheduled kickoff as the hosts arrived late in Brazzaville.

Kenyan Journalist Festus Chuma said one of the platforms that Bangui travelled to Brazzaville in batches, with the first arriving two hours before kickoff.

He added that Bangui started the match with only eight players, a claim that Vipers are yet to confirm.

And it remains to be seen if the Central African Republic side will honour the second leg at Kitende next Saturday.

Vipers only worry is to have Marvin Joseph Youngman ready in time for the next matches after he was taken off after injured for Winger Lumala in the first half.

Otherwise, Vipers SC have put a strong foot in the second round of the preliminary round where they will face TP Mazembe who earned a bye to this stage.

Vipers Starting XI: Alfred Mudekereza (GK), Ashraf Mandela, Murushid Juuko, Livingstone Mulondo, Isa Mubiru, Siraje Sentamu, Marvin Joseph Youngman, Najib Yiga, Milton Karisa, Bright Anukani, Cromwell Rwothomio

Substitutions: Fabien Mutombora, Disan Galiwango, Olivier Osomba, Abubakar Lawal, Abdu Lumala, Hilary Mukundane, Ibrahim Orit, Karim Watambala.
