•Uganda 3-0 Tanzania
Uganda defeated Tanzania 3-0 on their way to qualifying for the CHAN finals for a sixth straight time.
Goals from Moses Waiswa, Rogers Mato and Richard Basangwa saw Cranes get the job done at the fully packed St. Mary’s stadium in Kitende.
Uganda advance to the finals that will be played in Algeria next year with a 4-0 aggregate.
The Cranes had beaten Tanzania 1-0, courtesy of Travis Mutyaba’s late beauty, in Dar Es Salaam during the first leg.
The Cranes’ early pressure was rewarded when Mato was brought down in the box for the referee to point to the spot.
And Waiswa scored from the spot to put Micho’s charges ahead before halftime.
Basangwa, on for Martin Kizza connected with a diving header from Waiswa’s well weighed freekick in the 54th minute.
And Mato put the icing on the cake when he scored the third goal in the 75th minute.
Uganda has now qualified for the sixth CHAN tournament consecutively having just missed the inaugural tournament in 2009 in Ivory Coast.
The task will now turn to see that the cranes can do better than the previous five tournaments which they failed to prevail from the group stages.
