Volleyball: All Set For National Club Championship in Iganga

The National Club Championship gets underway on Saturday in Iganga, hosted by National Volleyball League champions OBB.

It’s a significant tournament that will see the winners both Men and Women represent the country CAVB Africa Club Championship.

The tournament will usher in the league that will serve off next weekend on September 10.

Sport-S (Men) and Ndejje Elites (Women) will be hoping to defend their titles in Iganga.

Sport-S beat Nemo Stars 3-1 while Ndejje near VVC in Kabale, with the Men’s final played later on at Old Kampala.

The Club Championship will be held at Shukrani camp centre and Iganga municipal School.

And OBB will be the favourites to claim the men’s category on home soil after they clinched the league few months back.

They added Jonathan Tumukunde (Nemo Stars), Brian Atuhaire (Sport-S), Levi Ogwang Syrus (Sport-S) and Edrisa Kijjambu (Elyon) while Martin Ssemwanga crossed to Ndejje in the transfer window.

But were a shadow of themselves in the NSSF KAVC International tourney where they failed to go past the groups.

KCCA Volleyball Club have pulled out in both Men and Women categories despite earlier confirmation.

•Pool B – Nemo Stars, Kampala University, Ndejje, JVC
•Pool C – OBB, Nemo Guards, Police, St Charles
•Pool D – KAVC, Entebbe, UCU, Nkumba
•Pool E – Sky, Tigers, Kampala Royal, VVC, COBAP

Women
•Pool A – Ndejje, COBAP, UPDF, Nemo
•Pool B – Sport-S, VVC, KAVC, Thunders
•Pool C – OBB, KU, KCB Nkumba, ESPOIR
