Uganda Men’s National Basketball team, the Silverbacks, lost their second game in the second round of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
The Silverbacks were beaten by Ivory Coast 91-80 on Saturday despite a gallant fight.
It was an improved show from the Silverbacks after a 84-62 loss to giants Angola on Friday.
Robinson Opong had 18 points while Ishmail Wainwright and Jimmy Enabu added 18 and 16 points each.
George Galanopoulos’ side had given themselves a fighting stance when they won they shot lights out to win the second quarter 31-19 and take a 50-46 lead at halftime.
Ivory Coast made amends in the third quarter but Uganda remained into the tie as they trailed by just a point heading into the last quarter.
And Ivory Coast ensured that their unbeaten run remained intact when they outlasted the Silverbacks to rolling over in style.
The Silverbacks return to action on Sunday in their last game of the window against Guinea who lost to Cape Verde (65-48) and Nigeria (89-70).
