Ibrahim Wamannah: UPDF Appoint New Captain

Uganda Premier League side UPDF have appointed former KCCA and Proline Midfielder Ibrahim Wamannah as the new Captain for the upcoming season.

Wamannah joined UPDF from Proline in 2020 after the Army side gained promotion to the top flight on loan before making the move permanent.

The industrious Midfielder was the third Captain last season behind captain Ssekitoleko Denis and his first assistant James Begesa.

Okello Donato and Oyirwoth Daglas are the first and second Assistant Captains respectively

‘Sifu’ as Wamannah is known by his peers, replaces Ssekitoleko who has taken Sabbatical from professional football due to official duties.

For most part of last season, Begisa captained the team but has since departed for URA.

The other capable player in Musa Mudde retired from active football at the end of the season.

Wamannah has been a key player for UPDF and one of the most loyal and consistent player since joining from Proline.

The Bombo-based side have so far signed Simon Mabuya, Sserugo Adrian, Simon Mukisa, Mpoza Steven, Mark Buule Donald, Kyeyune Abasi, Achumu Farid, Kakooza Moses, Nsimbe Badru Jibulilu, Oscar Agaba and Akoch Augustine ahead of the season that kicks off on 30th September.
