UPDF FC Strengthen Squad With Eleven New Signings

Uganda Premier League side UPDF FC have bolstered their squad with 11 new signings ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Pending official unveiling, the Army side’s new additions include Tooro United pair of goalkeeper Simon Mabuya and defender Adrian Sserugo.

Former Onduparaka pair of Oscar Agaba and Augustine Akoch are the other new signings.

Synergy duo of Farid Achumu and Right back Moses Kakooza reunite with coach Brian Ssenyondo while forward Badru Nsimbe Jibulilu joins from Masaka City (Buganda Regional League).

The other new additions are Centre back Simon Mukisa (KCCA Junior), Midfielders Steven Mpoza (URA), Mark Donald Buule and Abasi Kyeyune from Kampala Junior Team (KJT).

All the said players have been training with the team at Bombo Barracks in preparations for the league that kickoff on September 30.

In fact, Achumu was on target as they beat Kawanda Select in a friendly game last week, Yiga Frank and Ivan Ahimbisibwe scored the other goals.

The Army side has also lost a couple of players including James Begisa who joined URA, Dickens Okwir moved to Blacks Power, Goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa and Simon Mbazira are also among exits.

Goalkeeper Brian Bwete and Musa Mudde retired from active football, with the latter joining the Club’s Technical team.

The side finished 10th with 37 points in the league last season and will be hoping for a better placement this time round.
